A TEENAGE motorcyclist who died in a crash with another vehicle in Fife at the weekend has been named by police.

Andrew Murray, 18, from Denny, was on the B942 Pittenweem to Colinsburgh road when his Yamaha motorbike collided with a Vauxhall Corsa on Saturday at around 5.15pm.

Paramedics tried to revive him by giving emergency CPR at the scene but the teenager could not be saved.

The driver of the car and his passenger were taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee following the incident, but their injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

In a statement issued by Fife Police, Andrew’s parents Donald and Lynn said: “The family are devastated at the loss of their magnificent son and brother Andrew Murray.

“He was a musician and played the guitar with pride and gave us joy.

“An apprentice coachbuilder and a motorcyclist, his fantastic personality made him popular with all who met him.

“The gulf in our lives will never be filled but we are so happy for the brief 18 years he gave us.”

Inspector Brenda Sinclair, deputy head of Road Policing, said: “This tragic accident happened around 5.15pm on Saturday evening where Mr Murray unfortunately died.

“The roadway was closed until around 11pm to allow evidence gathering at the locus to progress.

“A report has since been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal at Cupar.

“I would appeal to any person who saw the movements of the Yamaha motorcycle or the Vauxhall Corsa prior to the crash to come forward.

“I would also appeal to any person who witnessed this crash to call us on 0845 600 5702.”
