DETECTIVES are hunting a tubby sex attacker who pounced on a 15-year-old girl after stalking her through woods.
She had been walking near the Anima nightclub in Church Street in the Pitteuchar area of Glenrothes around 10pm on Monday when she realised she was being followed.
He stalked her through a public path on Warout Woods before grabbing her as they approached Craigievar Drive where she was sexually assaulted.
Despite her ordeal, she described him as being tubby, in his 30s, clean shaven and wearing a white t-shirt with writing on it.
It was hoped people leaving a local Bingo Hall at around 9.40pm may have noticed anyone following the girl, who was wearing light coloured clothes, as she walked by with a carrier bag,
Police say they also hoped to track down a man in his early 20s who may have been visiting relatives to see if he witnessed anything.
Detectives have not yet ruled out a link with a second attack on Wednesday when a man tried to grab an 18-year-old woman off the street as she walked home alone.
The latest incident happened around 8.30pm on Dunrobin Road in the Stenton area of Glenrothes.
Fife Police said an 18-year-old woman was alone when she was grabbed by a man in his late 20s as she made her way home.
She managed to break free and was able to tell police her attacker was slim, unkempt and reeking of alcohol.
He was worse a distinctive dark coloured waterproof jacket and jeans.
Police say that while the descriptions do not match for the attackers, they could rule nothing out.
A spokesman added: “We are keeping an open mind.”
Anyone with information on either attack was asked to contact their local police office.
