A 22-YEAR-OLD man has died in a crash after colliding with an oncoming car.
Andrew McLean was the driving his Vauxhall Nova south on the A701 in the Borders when he collided with a Peugeot 307 that had been travelling in the other direction.
Today his parents Michelle Denny and John McLean were too upset to talk too much, just saying that they are “united in grief”.
The accident happened just before 1.30pm on Saturday half a mile north of the junction with the A72 in Peebleshire near Mountain Cross.
Andrew, from Dunsyre, Carnwarth, died on the scene.
Another 22-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman who were in the Peugeot were rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
They both suffered a number of non-life threatening injuries.
The A701 was closed for five hours after the accident while police officers investigated the smash.
Police are now asking any witnesses to the collision to come forward and help them work out what happened.
A police spokesman said: “We are still trying to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident and would urge anyone who saw the collision to contact police immediately.
“Similarly, anyone with information that can assist with our enquiries is also asked to come forward at once.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131 or Crimestoppers.
