Man in critical condition as Fife road crash leaves three hurt

POLICE have appealed for witnesses to a serious road accident in Fife which left one man fighting for his life and two others detained in hospital.

A silver Ford Fiesta and blue Suzuki swift collided on the A055 at Buckhaven close to the Buck and Hynd pub around 2pm on Monday.

Accident investigators said the 24 year old Fiesta driver suffered “serious” injuries and was transferred to the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh after first being stabilised locally.

Police said he remained in a “critical” condition today (wed).

The 60 year old man driving the other car and his 56 year old woman passenger were both treated at Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline.

Their injuries were described as “serious”.

Scene

Police sealed off the road for several hours whilst investigations were carried out inquiries into the cause at the scene.

Deputy Head of Road Policing Inspector Brenda Sinclair said: “Considerable investigation of the evidence found at the scene of the crash was carried out by specialist officers.

“But are still keen to hear from any person who may be able to assist the police in determining what took place.”
