Two trapped in road collision

A MAN and woman had to be rescued after their cars collided in Fife, with one landing in the bushes to the side of the road.

Two fire crews attended the scene and the man was freed first, but the girl was trapped for almost an hour while the crews cut the roof from her car.

They collided on the A92 at the Red House roundabout between Kirkaldy and Thornton.

The pair were taken by ambulance to Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline.

A spokesman from Fife Fire and Rescue Service said: “We got the call at five to eleven on Saturday night from a passer by.

“The female was trapped for longer than the male because her roof had to be removed in order to get her out safely.

“They arrived at Queen Margaret Hospital just before midnight, the female was suffering from a suspected back injury but the extent of this is not yet known.”
