A WOMAN had to be freed from her car by fire-fighters after crashing off a road in Fife leaving her trapped.

Fife Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the accident when a passer-by phoned 999 after spotting the incident between Leslie Street and Auchmuirbridge in Glenrothes.

They arrived at the scene around 2.30pm and the woman was freed half an hour later and treated by an ambulance crew.

A spokesperson for Scottish Ambulance said: “We were called to a single car road traffic accident on the A911, after a female driver came off the road.

“She was trapped for around 30 minutes as a fire rescue crew pulled her out of the vehicle.”

The woman was taken to Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline to be checked over further.
