A MAN was left seriously injured after being attacked by a group of youths in the capital.
The group of four or five males pounced on the victim as he was walking onto London Road in the Abbeyhill area of Edinburgh.
The thugs – all aged between fifteen and sixteen years old – knocked him to the ground and injured his eye.
He later required surgery on the injury after the brutal assault.
Unprovoked
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident at around 7pm on Friday November 20 to come forward and help catch the attackers.
A police spokesman said: “This was a serious, unprovoked attack that caused a serious injury and we are appealing for anyone who saw what happened to contact the police if they have not already done so.
“We are also keen to speak to anyone who was in the area of London Road at Abbeyhill at around 7pm on Friday, who saw the group of youths either before or after the incident happened.
“Similarly, anyone who can assist in identifying the youths involved should also contact the police.”
Anyone who thinks they can help should call Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
