SUSAN BOYLE fans in Blackburn are getting a helping hand from last year’s Scots’ finalist Andrew Muir – they have borrowed the ‘good luck’ sign he used from his parent’s pub.
But they are hoping the second outing for the sign that is now hanging in Blackburn Community Centre will prove better.
When the community centre wanted to stage a semi-final party for Susan, they started to ring around looking to borrow some equipment.
Ralph Bell, the community centre manager, said that they had called in favours around the area.
“Very generous”
He said: “We are borrowing a lot of things from people – the stage is being brought in, so is the sounds system and big screen.
“It’s taken quite a long time to get the stuff together, but people have been great.”
And one of the generous donors was Andrew’s mum Marion.
Andrew said: “They rung up the pub and asked if they could borrow the banner that we had outside.
“Quite funny”
“I haven’t seen it but I’m guessing they scrubbed out my name and put Susan’s on.
“It’s quite funny – I hope it brings her luck.”
The banner used to read “Good Luck Andrew. From all your friends and family @ the Commercial Inn” but has been adapted to the latest West Lothian contestant.
It now hangs proudly in the community centre with Susan replacing Andrew and the Commercial Inn covered over with the Blackburn Centre.
“Good luck”
And the residents of Blackburn aren’t the only people behind Susan, Andrew is supporting her all the way as well.
He said: “I hope she does well tonight. I wish her all the luck in the world.”
