A VIRGIN churchgoer from West Lothian has proved to be the smash hit of Saturday’s new series of Britain’s Got Talent.
Singer Susan Boyle, 47, from Blackburn, Bathgate, blew judges away by belting out I dreamed a Dream’ from West End smash Les Miserables.
Judge Piers Morgan immediately dubbed her “stunning” while fellow judge Simon Cowell said she was a “little tiger”.
The panel didn’t know quite what to expect when Susan, wearing a gold dress, walked on stage proclaiming she wanted to be a professional singer.
But her show-stopping performances won her the loudest applause of the night as she admitted she wanted to be as successful as Elaine Paige.
Last night neighbours told how she could often be heard singing when the windows were open.
One said: “She’s a fantastic singer – we love hearing her.”
She has sung in the local choir since aged around 12 and tried her hand at amateur dramatics before landing a regular gig in her local bar.
One of nine children the devout Catholic, who’s dad served in the Army with the Royal Engineers, claims she has never been kissed far let alone hit the right notes under the covers.
Another neighbour said: “Everyone knows that – she’s just a lovely, lovely person.”
Three other Scots also – student James Boyd, 33, Jason Auld, 20, and Edmund Gaw, 47, – after taking part in the Glasgow audition heats.
