THE CUTE dog born with no nose has been re-homed with a caring family.

Left on the dog home shelf, poor Clay – a collie, English bull terrier cross – was desperate to find a new family to take care of him.

She had been at the dog home for weeks as scores of prospective owners were put off by the dog’s deformities and possible future veterinary costs.

Her unusual appearance was down to a birth defect which also affects her left ear, and staff at the Dogs Trust Re-homing Centre, in West Calder, are delighted to have found a home for the playful pup.

Susan and Ian Gilbert, from Blackburn, West Lothian, fell in love with the loveable pooch as soon as they saw her.

Susan said: “I picked Clay because she’s just so cute. The lady at the centre told us she had a sore nose – I hadn’t even noticed.

“I didn’t even notice half her ear was missing. I think it made me want her all the more.”

Clay is the couple’s third rescue dog and has settled into her new home well.

Susan added: “She’s just got a lovely cute wee face on her, and she’s full of mischief.”
