Woman ‘tried to open aeroplane door’

By Paul Thornton

A WOMAN allegedly tried to open the door of an aeroplane during a flight.

It is claimed that the 47-year-old lunged for a passenger door when onboard an Air France flight to Scotland.

Police say the captain of the plane, which had been travelling from Paris to Edinburgh on Wednesday morning, called ahead to authorities to warn them of the alleged disturbance.

And officers waiting at Edinburgh Airport arrested the Glasgow woman as other passengers left the flight shaken but uninjured.

A police spokeswoman confirmed a woman was arrested at Edinburgh Airport following a call from the captain of a flight at around 11.40am.

Yesterday (Thursday) Ann Gilmour appeared on petition at Edinburgh Sheriff Court in connection with the incident.

Miss Gilmour is charged with recklessly and negligently endangering the plane and also the passengers on it by attempting to open the front passenger door while the aircraft was in flight.

She made no plea or declaration during a short private hearing where she was remanded in custody after making no request for bail.
