Car-aoke: Scots taxi driver dubbed “world’s best” after hilarious Paolo Nutini serenade to passengers

A SCOTS driver has been dubbed the “world’s best taxi ride” after he hilariously serenaded his passengers with a rendition of Paolo Nutini.

Driver Rolf surprised his passengers on Saturday, during their journey with his cover of Nutini’s Pencil Full of Lead.

The Edinburgh-based Uber driver is known for his car-aoke’s, where he dresses to the nines in a Scottish kilt and flat cap to match while singing.

Rolf’s latest performance though, has now seen him dubbed the “world’s best taxi driver” by passenger Lorri Boyle and her pals.

Hilarious footage shows Lorri giggling with her friends as they sit in the rear seats of Rolf’s Uber.

The camera pans on a laminated card on the front passenger seat’s headrest which advertises Rolf’s dedicated @RolfsRides social media page.

Lorri then informs viewers: “We’re in Rolf’s Rides. This is the best Uber in Edinburgh and he’s going to sing us a wee song.”

On-screen text reads: “We got in the ‘World’s Best Taxi’ in Edinburgh last night.”

Rolf can then be seen pressing a button inside the vehicle which reveals a hidden compartment full of essentials including tampons, sanitary towels and condoms for passengers.

He then hilariously pulls down the sun visor to reveal a computer keyboard attached to it, before setting up his Google Maps for the journey.

The entertaining driver can then be seen grinning widely as he selects a song from his Spotify playlist before setting off on the Uber ride.

Paulo Nutini’s upbeat song Pencil Full of Lead can then be heard playing as Rolf begins the countdown for the song.

He can then be seen belting out lyrics as the passengers whoop and cheer him on.

He sings into the microphone headset he wears as the camera cuts to Rolf turning to his passengers who act as his backup singers, belting out the chorus with the driver.

However, the group hilariously change the main chorus line to: “Best of all, I’ve got my taxi.”

As the song comes to an end, one of the passengers can be heard saying to Rolf: “That was amazing. You have cracked something big here, mate.”

Lorri took to social media on Saturday to share the hilarious footage, writing: “This was not what we expected when we got into Rolf’s car last night.”

The post received over 101,000 likes and more than 930 comments from users left tickled by the entertaining driver.

One person wrote: “That’s utter marketing genius. I want his taxi for [pre-drinking].”

Another said: “I’m tipping fat if I get here.”

A third commented: “Oh my god. I’ve had him before, he’s seriously upgraded since. He’s such a laugh.”

A fourth added: “I wouldn’t want to get out – ruin the buzz to get out. Sod clubbing, I’m staying in this cab. Can we just pay you drive us around?”

Speaking to Lori Boyle, 36, today she said: “We were in Edinburgh for a girly overnight and had been using the Uber app because we didn’t know local taxi numbers.

“A lot of people in the comment section seem to think we booked and paid for this especially, but all we did was order a regular £12 Uber on the app and Rolf turned up.

“As soon as we got in the car, he got on his wee mic and said he had water, mints, iPhone chargers, then he hit his little pop down board and we saw the condoms and tampax – we were howling.

“He told us he had a sound system, and did we have any requests, he didn’t mention singing though, until I said to him ‘You could give us a song.’

“I was half joking, but he didn’t need to be asked twice and told us he had been on The Voice.

“I obviously have my TikTok, and I knew my followers (and more) would love this so I asked if I could film him.

“He said yes and off he went. We weren’t expecting him to be as good as he was. Best Uber journey ever.

“Only half of our group got in (there were seven of us, so we needed two Ubers) and the others were livid that they’d missed it.”
