Cowdenbeath manager Colin Nish is delighted to have snapped up former Middlesbrough and Birmingham City youngster Luke Armstrong and ex-Rotherham trainee Sam Orritt after successful trials.
Armstrong, the 19-year-old son of one-time Middlesbrough and Ipswich Town favourite Alun Armstrong, impressed with a double in the recent friendly win over Gala Fairydean Rovers.
Orritt, a 22-year-old midfielder or winger, has returned to the UK after a four-year spell playing for Limestone College in South Carolina.
As he prepared to make his competitive managerial debut in Saturday’s Petrofac Training Cup tie against Raith Rovers, new Blue Brazil boss Nish told Capital City Press: “Luke was at Middlesbrough for five years and then Birmingham last year.
“So, he has a good pedigree and will improve with games, and Sam is a bit of an unknown quantity having come here from college in America.
“Both have shown up well in the games and training during pre-season and I’m delighted to get them in.”
